Frequently Asked Questions

The maximum measurement range will vary from 200 metres or 220 yards when pointing at large objects, to around 60 metres or 70 yards when pointed at light coloured objects.

You can adjust the manual focus by turning the rubberised lens surround. However, if you look at the settings menu and the words are fuzzy, or it’s difficult to focus on the viewing screen unless it’s held at arm's length, unfortunately this points to needing a device with a dioptre. We do have a device with a dioptre, the Nightfox Prowl, but it doesn’t have a laser rangefinder.

The Vulpes on a full charge should provide approximately 6 hours of battery life on one charge. We suggest that it needs to be charged overnight the first time you get it out of the box, just in case the battery is depleted. You can use the device with an external battery pack, the same you may use for charging a phone whilst out in the field, just turn the Vulpes on and plug it in with the provided USB.

The Vulpes has a maximum viewing range at night of 220 meters with the inbuilt 850nm IR. It can be boosted with an additional IR illuminator, we would suggest an 850nm IR torch for the maximum boost to range, or the 940nm IR for increased stealth but reduced boost to viewing range.

Sadly no, it can’t. It is too heavy and has too high a fixed magnification, and consequently doesn’t have a mounting rail. It needs to be hand held and also comes with a comfy neck strap.
